Blessed Redeemer is named after a lovely hymn. The lyrics are at the bottom of this page. However “Jane” came by her nickname quite by accident. About the same time Red delivered her kids, we had a litter of puppies born here. Their owner named them after characters from Pride & Prejudice. The one that was exceptionally friendly just happened to be named Jane. It wasn’t long after, that one of Red’s babies also proved to be super friendly. And the comment was made, she’s loving just like Jane the puppy. And, for the next few months there was Jane the dog and Jane the goat. Both Janes went to their new owners—-and everyone felt like a piece of their heart left—-me, especially with Jane. However I was so blessed that her new owner was also a dear friend. So, it made it easier. When Red passed away, we were all heartbroken. And, Jessica offered to let Jane return home. It took about a year, and here we are. Jane the goat—-who is most LOVED—-is now back home. And is even more of a blessing now than she was as a baby.
She was bred to one of Jessica’s wonderful bucks—Brady, a young guy—-whose sire (O Happy Day) was bred here, his dam being SG Frona EEEE92, and sire SG/Elite Oliver. Brady’s dam is one of my favorites that Jessica has. Dauphene, a gorgeous, super dairy doe, with a fabulous udder, and who is half sister to 5 CH/GCHs, out of an SGCH BC Delta Dawnn 1*M EEEE91.
We are really looking forward to Jane kidding and going on test, of course—-but most of all, we’re just very thankful to have her back home. Her personality is the most like her mama’s…and there is still a hole in our hearts for Red. <3
