Sonnet is a very lovely, feminine doe—-whose body type and lineage only improves with age. The pix don’t really do her justice at how eye-catching she is. One of the things that was obvious about her dam (Lizzie) and Gdam (Shalom) is how “Typey” they were.
There’s a story with all of us—Sonnet is no different. She’s a fabulous milker and was on track to hit 1000# easily—-as she was half through her 305 with 670#. And she was 1 point away from being ADGA Elite. I had gone inside to grab a bit to eat then went back to the barn just for evening milking—- and heard a tiny little cry. This made no since we didn’t have anything due. Obviously I was wrong as there stood a newborn surrounded by a group of milkers— all licking her. I actually had to look at the back ends of the does to see who had kidded. Sonnet had just the smallest amount of evidence. We were stunned and immediately ran to look over the calendar, specifically 5 mos prior. Sure enough—-several of the young bucks got loose while being switched to a different pen. We were ALL there and ran quickly in all directions to grab the boys. We had eyes on each (or so we thought) and they were only amongst the girls for 3 minutest max while corralling them. Clearly not. We did DNA tests on each of the boys we still had, no matches. I remembered one handsome lil guy that had gone to Alaska (of course). His new owner was more than gracious and sent in the DNA test for us. Sure enough…we had a match. She was given a full year off, obviously. Then bc we came to the place that we had to scale back—-I (very) reluctantly sold Sonnet who had been bred to kid in 4/20.
The Lord opened the door for us to get this sweet doe back and we were THRILLED to bring her home. You can see from the pix and her pedigree the reason why.

2021 AGS Classification: 90Ex—scored in the 90s for: Front End Assembly, Head, Front/Back legs, Dairy Character, Body Capacity, Mammary: Fore/Rear Udder, Support, Quality (Shape, Balance, Texture). Very Feminine (esp in head & neck), good angulation of ribs, & Angularity is nice. Needs to be a little more level in the loin.
