I’ve waited for a long time before writing about Goodness (and her litter sister Blessing). Both girls were the last babies Charity gave us. I still feel so awful for breeding their mama that last time—-even though she was the picture of health & vitality and I had asked other breeders if it was still OK to breed a doe that had recently turned 10. “Of course, if she’s healthy.” was the same reply multiple times. We went ahead bc I wanted to breed her to Oliver—-whose first crop of babies were so beautiful…and what a cross it would be. Charity and Red were two of our main original foundation does—and we loved them dearly. Both have impacted our herd equally. So, what seemed like a good idea—-and certainly has proven true genetically, ended up with a torn uterus. Charity valiantly stayed alive for 24 hrs to give her girls (who she adored) their colostrum—-and passed away in my arms. Thus, Goodness & Blessing became house babies—-which, somewhat, took away the sting of Charity passing—-but not the guilt that I had brought that on.
All that to say—-Goodness!!! She scored a 90.6Ex with Tim last year, and LA’d this year with a VEEE90——She has her mama’s profile ;) and her mama’s sweet-as-pie disposition. Her litter sister, Blessing—-is just as pretty, but was dry for LA. Blessing is the dam of Favor—-who has been a powerhouse on the milkstand—-who, at 240 days just went over 1050# and also earned 89.6 with Tim, and scored 89 with ADGA—-(neither registries will give a FF a 900).
You may notice that Goodness seems a bit over-conditioned—-just so you know—she gets no grain…so has that ability to gain weight on air unless she’s in milk. You can’t tell a huge difference in her 2022 LA, (she was too fresh to be classified this year), but I promise, you can actually notice it in person.
